In
a letter dated April 29, 2002, Sharon Carter said in part:
"I've been married
three times . . . the first and third fellows died and
the one in the middle should have. I raised four kids
and helped raise two nieces, three foster sons and two
stepsons, all of which only three are still speaking to
me. I've lost count of the number of grandsons but raised
one until he was three and am helping with two others
who are teenagers. (I find ear plugs are much cheaper
than valium when raising children.)
For about 25 years I worked
as an editor at small town papers mostly in Arkansas which,
as everyone knows, is the sparkling jewel in the continental
United States. Finally wound up with asthma from all the
hours spent in unventilated photo labs and have retired.
Now I sort of run a food bank/used clothing shop for the
local ministerial alliance. At 59 I'm the youngster in
the crowd so, as you can imagine, things get done -- but
very slowly.
God bless everybody! Sharon
. . . . " |
