| Picnic in the Park - Spring 2010
|
|
The
annual spring Picnic in the Park held by Winter Park High
School is scheduled for Saturday, April 24th, between the
hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. In 2009 we had a small table
set up at the last minute hosted by Vic Vermillion. (Thanks
Vic, for all your effort.) We had a fair turn out but
not nearly the number we have had show up for this event
who represent the Class of 1961.... . Picnic in the Park had a very small representation of the Class of
1961. The Picnic in the Park was fair. The Picnic in the Park was really fun with a good representation of the
Class of 1961. The very best turnout was for the 75th anniversary
of WPHS celebrated at the Picnic in the Park .
This is the first year the Class of 1961
will have it's own, full-sized table with treats, a 1961
yearbook to look at, name tags, and more - hosted by Vic
Vermillion and Marcia Gruber. We need to have the best turnout
ever. The tables are lined up in a row so Class of 1960
will be at our right and Class of 1962 will be at our left.
Let's show up on Saturday morning and meet our classmates.
We will also have some answers to your questions concerning
the upcoming 50th class reunion being held in 2011. |
We
got an e-mail from Bob Cross who wrote us about a web site he
found that allows you to zero in on an address and see the actual
property, 'ride' up and down the road (via your mouse), and check
out the neighborhood you grew up in (or whatever else you want
to see). The web site is vpike.com or you can click
to be taken there. Thanks for sharing, Bob! I tried it and it's
great fun! (added 3/9/2010)
Chip
Schram has shared with us a newspaper article regarding the Interact
Club which is the junior Rotarians in high school at Rockbridge
County High School. The Interact Club is sponsored by both the
Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club (Chip is a member of) and the Lexington
Rotary Club. According to Chip, a similar club at WPHS was called
the Wheel Club. It was made up of only boys because the Rotary
Clubs did not allow women at that time. Click
