Diane Kay Anderson Knox

Diane Anderson Knox

The Earth shines less bright with the passing of Diane Kay Knox (Anderson) on April 10, 2019. She will be sorely missed by humans and animals alike. Diane was born in Minnesota and raised in Florida but spent time in Nevada and Wisconsin visiting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Diane loved nature (as long as it didn’t get her hair wet), reading (sometimes devouring a book a day), music (once it started playing you couldn’t keep her from dancing or singing), men (as evidence by her four husbands), animals (sometimes more than people) and her family (especially the grandkids). In her 76 years life, Diane made friends wherever she went. She provided a safe haven of love and acceptance, always accepting people where they were in life and saw the good others missed. Diane was the savior of many sick and abandoned animals through her work with the Humane Society and by caring for animals left on her doorstep. No matter where she lived or visited, animals in need of care seemed to find her. Whether it was raising a kitten with no eyes, caring for an abandoned baby squirrel to release back into the wild, or bringing home a baby monkey that adored her but terrorized the children, Diane was there. Growing up as an only child, it was Diane’s dream to have a big family, which she definitely achieved. She is survived by her children, daughter Sydra Knox-Kidd; son Samuel Knox III and wife Becky; son David Knox and ex-wife Krystal; and son Daniel Knox and wife Tina; her grandchildren, Aubrey Duncan and husband Corey McElroy; Ashley Montour and husband CJ; Adam Lemke; Amanda Berger and husband Nick; Samuel Knox IV; Dylyn Knox and wife Ambré; Brock Knox; Celestia; Sebastian; Tabytha Knox; and Garner Knox; her fourteen great-grandchildren; and her dear long-time friend Mary Phillips. Diane Anderson KnoxDiane will continue to live on in the hearts and stories (some slightly embellished because that’s what she would have wanted) of those she left behind. She was proceeded in death by her parents, mother Doris (Dodge) Schroeter and step-father Robert; father Gareth Anderson and step-mother Helen; her first husband and father of her children, Samuel Knox II; her fourth husband Larry Hermann (a family favorite); her son-in-law Bradley James Kidd; her baby brother Brock Anderson who passed away at birth; and her cat Sinbad who was her loyal companion for many years and was more human than feline. Special thanks to the Grand Horizons Care Facility who filled her final months with music and singing and Asera Hospice Care who helped ensure her passing was as comfortable as possible for her and her family. There will be a celebration of life for Diane on May 5th from 1:00 cst - 3:00 cst at Copper Rock Coffee Company, 210 W College Ave Appleton, in the Gallery Room. Diane would not have wanted people to spend money on flowers (which will eventually wilt and die) or plants (that her family would likely unintentionally kill); therefore, in lieu of flowers consider a donation to Saving Paws, a non-profit no-kill shelter: https://www.savingpaws.com/ways-to-give.
