Cape Verde Fort

The Cape Verde Islands are about 300 miles west of the African continent coast. This is a view from the Portuguese fortress above the 16th c. Cidade Velha, a Unesco World Heritage Site. The interior of Praia is dry & mountainous (not verde) where we spotted a rare pigmy kingfisher.
