WPHS Web Site
HOW IT ALL BEGAN!     The mention of the creation of an alumni web site occurred at the 40th class reunion, June, 2001. The site was created and online by July 1st. About 20 members of our class are still missing or unaccounted for. Those we have located or relocated, along with all those we have e-mail addresses for, will receive an e-mail with a link to the 4th anniversary newsletter. Those we do not e-connect with will receive via USPS their own copy of the 4th annual WPHS Class of 1961 Alumni Web Site newsletter with a brief narrative of the news of this past year as it pertains to classmates.
45th Reunion in 2006! The 45th class reunion preparations are currently underway. The alumni web site is hosting the official WPHS Class of 1961's 45th reunion itinerary on our web site. You will keep tune to the latest updates to the reunion scheduled to be held the weekend of April 21st through April 23rd, 2006, by clicking HERE. Be sure to bookmark the web site.
WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING DURING 2004-2005?
This past year there were many classmates who were reunited as a result of the connectivity your alumni web site has created. Below you will find links to a few mini-events, and more!
Thanks to supportive classmates - The alumni web site will remain online for two more years. Contributions were made by classmates attending the first mini-reunion in Georgia back in August, 2003. As a result, we felt it was only right to welcome contributions from those classmates who wanted to help defray the costs incurred by Bill, Mary and Anne for the past 4 years. Contributions are to be sent directly to Bill Ronay. He maintains the web site fund. Contributions cover not only the cost of space on the internet and our own domain name, but also the cost of postage and supplies used to mail newsletters to classmates who we are not e-connected to, and 'minutes' on phone cards used in locating lost/missing classmates. Thanks much!

Social Circle, Georgia, 8/21/2004
- Bill and Camille Ronay again organized and hosted a mini-reunion in Georgia at the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle. Pat Warr and Carol Hoelle were first-time attendees. Thanks to Pat Warr, Jeanne Williams, Connie Shoup and Camille Ronay for sharing their photographs. Click HERE.

Classmates cruise the western Caribbean together - Frank Ferguson and wife Maggie, Bill Ronay and wife Camille, Mary Phillips and her mother Peggy, Deanna Dudley Kent and her daughter Kim, Anne Laing Ryder and her husband Jack boarded the Carnival Glory in February, 2005. The cruise was not planned as a mini-reunion. It was a cruise with great rates, good itinerary, and shared by a few classmates from WPHS. Click HERE.

Did you know we have a marathon runner in our class? Tom Tobin recently ran the Boston Marathon and shared his stats with us along with a picture of him crossing the finish line. Tom is an active member of The Roadkillers running club and has participated in many events over the years. Click HERE.
A fishing trip in Cedar Key, Florida had been planned for April 27th, 2005. The weather did not cooperate with the planned event. A storm came up in the Gulf of Mexico prohibiting boats from leaving the ports. Weather advisories had been in place for a few days prior to the event but three classmates did turn out for some quality time together. Click HERE.
Holiday wishes were expressed by the WPHS Class of 1961 Alumni Web Site committee members to their classmates and friends. You can click HERE to view the 2004 wishes.
WPHS Picnic in the Park 2005 - WPHS hosted it's annual Picnic in the Park on Saturday, April 16th. The "All School Reunion" honored teachers, staff, students and community friends of WPHS. The community-wide celebration is a semi-annual event with games, food, clubs, sports, alumni and performing arts. There is also an All School Reunion held during homecoming weekend in the fall. Click HERE.
The spring 2006 picnic in the park will be held the weekend of the 45th class reunion. Arrangements were made with WPHS to hold the "picnic" during our reunion weekend which will give us the opportunity to mingle with ALL classes during the Saturday morning event. During the spring 2006 picnic in the park the class of 1961 will host it's own table where classmates will be able to pick up memorabilia.
Classmate participation is key to the success of the alumni web site. A special thanks goes out to Loni Abbotts, Charlie Cayll, Bill Schwartz, Ann Spaulding, Linda Schmidt, Susan Carter, Tom Tobin, JoAnn Engle, Max Morris & wife Pat, Tommy Bledsoe, Frank & Maggie Ferguson, Dave Rees, Deanna Dudley, Bill & Camille Ronay, Sharon May, Fran Ussery, Susan Carter, Marcia Gruber, Bob Cross, David Rees, Dewey & Trish Ramsby, Eric Firchow, Ken Minamyer, Chip & Judy Schram, Bonnie Pechin, Carol Hoelle, Ronnie & Toni Peacock, Allen Burris, Julie Baldwin and others for sharing photographs and stories of events with us. As always, a very special THANKS goes to Mary Phillips for her continued efforts to locate lost classmates. Mary has narrowed the list of 'lost' classmates to 20. She puts in many hours each week and Bill Ronay follows up with phone calls to each newly found classmate. Without their joint efforts this web site wouldn't have gotten off the ground. Thanks, guys and gals!!!
Two classmates passed away this past year. Joy Hardy Marshall passed away June 8th after a battle with inflamatory breast cancer. Lynn Furr Hammett passed away June 13th as a result of medical complications encountered from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Lynn had visited with classmates at the Picnic in the Park gathering in April and she was actively participating in arrangements for the upcoming 45th class reunion. Our condolences go out to both families. Click HERE.
WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
The success of this web site is measured in several different ways. GREAT STORIES of reuniting with friends from years back is one of our favorite 'success' rewards. But additionally, we are very proud to be a part of the upcoming 45th class reunion scheduled for the weekend of April 21st through the 23rd, 2006. That was the initial motivation for creating your WPHS Class of 1961 Alumni Web Site... and soon the REUNION will be taking place.

Share with us stories of how you connected with a classmate via this web site. We want to hear from you. You can click HERE to read a bit about how the site has affected classmates.
We are looking for more pictures. Pictures and newspaper articles if you have any. Your web'mistress will be delighted to post the pictures to the web site along with your name for contributing. The pictures and their captions have made the web site the success that it is.
Don't forget, if you change your e-mail address you should contact Mary Phillips or Bill Ronay so they can update their records to ensure you receive the most recent e-mails from your classmates.
This web site does not update itself. We have tracked down a few classmates who forgot to contact us when e-mail addresses were changed. Help us eliminate broken links and undeliverable e-mails. Remember to contact us of any snail-mail or e-mail changes. Many thanks.
